Unique Pathways to Special Education

My Students have severe learning disabilities and I currently have 16 students in my self-contained high school class. I wanted something that I could use in order to differentiate all my students needs at the same time of having things uniform for my students. I have done a lot of research on adaptive notebooks and have found the topic very interesting. First, it's important to understand how the brain works when processing is affected by environmental stress and/or anxiety-related disabilities and disorders. As noted in ADHD and Anxiety: The Vicious Circle, anxiety related disabilities and ADHD can impair brain processing. Impaired processing causes anxiety. Anxiety further impairs processing. Further impaired processing causes more anxiety. The cycle will often go on as long as the student is presented with the anxiety-producing task-- which often is paper-pencil or writing. This product is absolutely the best for the students in my classroom and would recommend it completely.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT...buy the bundle!!!!!

I use this in my Setting III EBD room with students in grade K-2. None of my students are low functioning, just aggressive and most have learning disabilities. This product is great in that setting. I don't think I would use it with students older than that unless they are severely DCD/ASD/SMI.

I'm copying my review from the BUNDLE because the same things apply. (Seriously, though, go buy the bundle)

My Bundle Review:
There is a lot to love about this product - so despite what I'm about to say, I want you to know that I would recommend this product and if I could do it all over, I would still purchase it.

Things You Should Know:
- LOTS of prep work for these - printing in color, laminating, cutting, organizing...
- Due to the lots of prep work, if you want to get your money's worth out of it, you really need to be two months ahead of the game. In other words, prepare February materials in December.
- Do NOT print everything. Look through the product and be critical about what you pick. There are a lot of differentiated options, so depending on your situation, some may not be applicable to the group you teach.
- Of all the AWB products I've purchased from Mrs. D's Corner - this one is by far the most ubiquitous and best bang for your buck. Great supplemental materials with activities that address reading, writing, math, science, and fine motor skills...I can use it with literally ALL of my kiddos.
